Irene H. Sönju

Irene H. Sönju

Irene H. Sönju lived the first seven years of her life in the rich Red River Valley Region of North Dakota, where her father planted flax seed as the highest paying cash crop in the fifties. Two years after her fathers passing in 1955, she moved to a small farm with her mother, step-father, and seven brothers and sisters in the Ottertail Lake region of Minnesota. Irene is knowledgeable about growing grains and livestock. She knows the importance of soil type and semi arid climate conditions for growing flax with high nutritional value. She helped gather in the harvest fields; loved roaming the woods and swamps, swimming in Ottertail Lake; and invested in livestock. Irene is back to her country roots and love of the land through her involvement in writing, speaking and educating the public on the health benefits of flax seed and SDG lignans.

Irene H. Sönju lives in Kandiyohi County, “where the lakes begin”. She is a Former Sotheby’s Associate as an Art Dealer for Emerging Artists. For over twenty-five years she has enjoyed collecting original Art. Irene has a BA degree from St. John's University/College of St. Benedict where she majored in Art History and Studio Art.
